Treatment of Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a progressive disease of the optic nerve, which if untreated, can lead to a narrowing of the vision field, deterioration of the optic nerve and significant, and even permanent, loss of vision. It has no symptoms and therefore it is called "the silent thief" or "silent killer" of the vision. Svjetlost has the possibility to perform an overall diagnosis of glaucoma in one day.

Glaucoma is a group of deseases of the optic nerve, characterized by increased intraocular pressure, optic nerve damages and visual field changes, which untreated can lead to blindness. With today´s modern diagnostic technology the disease can be detected 5 years before any damage occurs.

The disease can be controlled in a conservative way (with drops) or by a number of laser treatments (SLT, Yag, Argon laser), and the last phase of treatment is a surgical procedure (express mini glaucoma shunt and trabeculectomy).
